Northants Greyhound Rescue relieves the suffering of greyhounds in distress by placing them in loving homes, to the benefit of the dogs and their new families. Currently, there are over 40 dogs in NGR’s care. Many have a sad history of neglect and cruelty. Some have passed from one place to another like discarded toys and are desperate for a secure future.
We can tell you from personal experience that greyhounds are the most gentle, loving and loyal of dogs. They make great pets and deserve a second chance. We hope that our donation will help to provide it.
Our photographic model is Molly - a four year old greyhound who never raced. Last year, we told you about the shocking conditions she'd been kept in by a trainer who had decided to put her down, until NGR intervened. Molly has damaged bones and scars on her body that will never heal. For the first few weeks in her adopted home, Molly lay in a corner, pressed against the walls, too scared to get up for anything or anybody. The slightest noise would make her shake with fear.
Today, as the photos below show, she is a very different dog. She is happy to see you, very interested in anything that resembles food, loves hiding chewed up mail around the house, adores the seaside, is fascinated by squeaky toys, tolerates a very snuggly cat, is eager to race around the garden and then is even more keen to collapse on her bed and sleep for a few hours.
We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
